Trials of a Knight
Time
spent as a squire varies for all. There is no
set time. It all depends on dedication and
sacrifice. It's up to the Knight to determine if the
squire is ready.
Humility &
Commitment
The Squire will
carry their knight’s sword at all times during
practice and events. The Knight will determine how
long the squire will wear the sword. At a camping
event, preferably Ragnarok, Have the squire stand in
a public area, with a sign asking passerby’s to
“Teach Me Humility, Your Wisdom, or Just kick my
A$$.” Also ask veterans to visit the squire. The
squire will stand there till the Knight is
satisfied. Afterwards take the squire out for
Dinner, ask him of his goals, and teach him the
Knight’s Code.
Honor & Respect
On and off the
battlefield, the Knight continually watches and critiques the
squire’s character, how he treats people, how he
responds to rudeness, if he is respectful.
Growth & Change
The squire must be
improving himself in the real world and in the
game. Considering their age, this could be doing
better in school, getting and maintaining a job,
anything that involving bettering themselves.
The goals they share with the Knight, are made
requirements in their training. The will squire meet experienced fighters to learn from
and spar. The squire must learn to herald,
weapons check, make weapons, make armor, and train
new fighters. They also will be expected to
have respectable garb for fighting and feast.
Vigil
The evening before
the squire’s knighting ceremony, the squire will
spend a sleepless night readying himself or herself
for the life of a knight. The squire must except
any challenges. This is to test his commitment to
being a Knight
Valor
The final trial will
be held at Ragnarok. The day after the vigil, the
squire will fight in a Gauntlet. Challenges
will vary. The squire will be truly tested and
pushed to the breaking point and then shield bashed
off the edge.
Knighting Ceremony
The squire may be
knighted by either King or Knight. The former
squire will be rewarded with sword, a silver belt,
knight’s chain, and shield.
